From humble beginnings as a small ski hill in Calgary to later hosting a successful Winter Olympic Games, WinSport remains a world-class facility today for high-performance sport, recreational physical activity, and exceptional entertainment experiences.

Construction begins on Olympic facilities.

Calgary, including Canada Olympic Park (COP), successfully hosts the XV Winter Olympic Games.

Canada Olympic Park opens to the public.

Beckie Scott Training Centre opens at the Haig Glacier

Bill Warren Training Centre opens at the Canmore Nordic Centre

The winter hill halfpipe opens to the public for high-performance use.

The downhill mountain bike trails – the only life-accessible trails of their kind in Alberta – open to the public.

The Ice House, an indoor sliding facility for bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge, opens to the public.

The World Cup moguls course is completed.

The pre-exiting Calgary Olympic Development Association becomes commonly known as WinSport, and continues owning and operating COP

The National Sport School relocates to WinSport.

The athletic and ice complex, currently known as the Markin MacPhail Centre, begins a phased opening.

The winter hill expands with a new quad chairlift and additional terrain for skiers and snowboarders.

The Performance Training Centre opens and begins housing the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta.

Western Canada’s largest tube park, currently known as the Servus Tube Park, opens to the public.

The ski jump towers are decommissioned.
